Let me say, whilst having the possibility to switch devices easily is indeed very desirable, doing the same with buckets is somewhat disregarding the basic capability of a bucket to store long-
time information from several devices.
Personally I find your " developer " way to copy configuration, associated with manual search and replace steps being the most flexible and powerful way to replicate the design of dashboards.
There is also more than only devices and buckets: You need e.g. to swap the user being part of the configuration information as well.
Indeed it is not that complicated to read into the configuration files and turn them into a successful target with any editor.
